Time Flies

May 8, 2011
Happy Mother's Day to my favorite moms.
It's already May and I am so behind in updating this blog.
I will start with the latest and greatest and hopefully catch y'all up on the Halterhome, because it has been busy around here.

Grace performed as Rose in Alice in Wonderland this weekend (twice).  Here are the pictures from the two performances.  She had the most lines she has ever had, about 10-12 speaking lines and she was on stage a lot of the time (and even in the front most of that time).  She actually took my advise and was much louder at the second performance after I said she needed to speak up because she wasn't mic-ed.
Note the lovely line green cast with glitter is camouflaged during much of the show.

The finale...see, she's right there in the front

The Trial scene...She testified that Alice wanted to be in the Golden Afternoon Club
The Trial scene...we had great costumes this time
Alice & the Queen of Hearts
The Caterpillar
Her cast showed when she was one of the sea creatures (Friday an octopus, Saturday a fish)
The Garden Girls...

Grandma Joyce & Poppy Don came bearing flowers (as did Emmie & Kackery who aren't shown)

That's a wrap!

Ouch!

Yesterday I got a call from the school nurse. Grace was there after taking a fall on the playground. The nurse (and I) seemed to think she was being dramatic (as usual). It looked totally fine, but she said it hurt So we iced it and gave her Tylenol. This morning it didn't look any different, but she had the same complaints. I took her to the doctor at 9:00 this morning. By 12:30 she had a sparkly green cast on her left wrist. A small fracture of her wrist on a growth plate.
Kinda like the girl who cried wolf, don't you think??

Presidential Award

April 26, 2011

Grace has been practicing and exercising very hard in an attempt to win the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.
She even voluntarily re-took the sit up and push up tests.  All her hard work paid off this week when she finally completed all of the activities in the designated time.  Woo Hoo.

You can go here to remind yourself of those dreaded fitness tests from your own grade school days.  Shuttle run ring any bells?

80s Flashback

Hanging out at Forever 21 with Grace & her friend. The clothes are a flashback from my high school days. You can't tell from this photo but these shirts are neon yellow and pink and the flash dance style is back

Elvis

Grace is doing an oral book report on Elvis. Here she is ready for school. She's a nut!

New Brett Dennen...finally

April 13, 2011

My new(ish) favorite artist just put out a new cd.  Love him!!  His music is even better (if that's possible) when listening to it driving around in my buggy with the top down.  He must own a convertible, it's just that perfect.
You can see him on a YouTube video here.
Loverboy

I had to find an alternative to Sting ever since he went of the artsy-fartsy deep end and can't put out anything remotely listen-able.

I highly suggest you jump over to itunes and download this cd.

Catch Up ...Part 3

April 10, 2011

More fun in the Halterhome:
Grace had two oral reports due last week.  First she reported on the inventor of the potato chip.  She wore this "costume" she made herself (it was like wearing one of those sandwich board signs) and handed out snack size bags of Lay's Potato Chips.

Then, she had another report the next day on Elvis.  This is how she went to school...
Notice the actual blue suede shoes we found at the thrift store.  Score!

Last weekend, my always fun neighborhood had the annual Bars on Bikes event.  We ride our bikes to a few local bars.  This year we added balloons to the bikes for a change.

My favorite stop is the Scottsdale Ranch bar that has a mechanical bull.  I made sure to wear my Bull Ridin' Hat.  It is so much fun, I wish we went more than once a year for Bars on Bikes.

 Here I go...

 Yee Haw!  Here's Jeanette...

And Grant was a hoot!   This is the first year men joined the brave lady bull riders.  They were no competition.
We all arrived home safely; no one ended up in the canal.  A successful party.
