We will be celebrating Easter at our house with family and friends tomorrow at our house. Tommy and I are then leaving Monday morning for NC to begin his Spring Break. Tom & Grace join us later.
This may be the first Easter there is no official Easter Egg hunt. I am just fine with that because when your kids are older, it is just not as much fun to watch them search the yard for plastic eggs. I am content to have them help me get the back yard and house ready for our guests. I did get some goodies to put in their baskets. Being the Easter Bunny is not as much fun as being Santa for some reason.
I will try to post the pictures while I am waiting in the airport. Enjoy this oldie of the Halter children in their Easter finest, circa 1977(?)

Easter 2012 and a Bonus
We celebrated Easter this year at the Halterhome with the Bettins (and their +3s), the Hahnenkratts, the Halters in town (which included both Mary & Mel this year), and 3/4 of the Kruks. I was a little stressed this year because we were in the midst of the back patio remodel. We had run into a little concrete problem and the pavers were put in place later Saturday afternoon, just in time for a quick clean up and set up.
We had lovely weather and the young girls kept up the tradition of breaking in the swimming pool on Easter. In and out, quick as wink.

The "young" girls (too big to be the little girls anymore). |
Tables are ready for company. The view isn't pretty, but there is a paved floor and not rubble like it was just 24 hours earlier. |
Let me brag for a sec... I bought this HUGE jar at Goodwill for $14 and it is being sold right now at Crate & Barrel for $65. And it makes a cute edible centerpiece. |

My boys. At least Tom doesn't mind hamming it up for a photo. |

Grace finally made it in. |
Then there is the new tradition of a few rounds of corn hole. The girls think it helps if you dance a little while you play.
And now a blast from the past...
Easters past that is...

My mom & Anne. They look kinds grumpy, maybe they didn't like what the Easter bunny brought them in those lovely baskets. |
I hope my mom didn't pay for this photo, you can see his arm and the numbers on the chair, and we aren't even looking at the camera. |
Me & Jennifer in our lovely Easter dresses, although I would call them Easter Gowns since they are full length. Very 1970s (1976 I am guessing). |
Happy Easter. (Late)

Easter 2011
The Easter Bunny came to Poppy's house again this year. He left literally hundreds of eggs for Tommy, Grace, Emmie, Allie, Cooper, Joe & Chloe to find. And isn't it funny how each child has his or her very own special color?!
The girls & Aunt Fissa emptying the eggs & sorting candy
Not a lot of pictures, but trust me it was a fun day!!

Easter
April 4, 2010
This year, we added a croquet match at the end of the evening. Tommy was ahead when we called the game on account of darkness.
OK, so my dates are not very chronological this week. I finally got around to downloading the oodles of pictures I had on my camera. I'm over scheduled.
Easter Sunday we had brunch at Aunt Kackery's house and then the kids looked for Easter Eggs at Poppy's house which is, conveniently, right down the street.
Here's pictures beginning Sunday morning...we went to church Saturday evening. I have no picture to prove that so you will have to trust me. Honest we did. St. Barnabas (an Episcopal church).
After a nap, we all gather at the Halterhome for Easter supper. The Hahnenkratts and the Bettins join us for great food and fun. For the past few years, we've come up with some unique Easter "traditions" like:
the (hard-boiled) egg toss
Chipping contests off the diving board and SWIMMING!
Eventually four of five kids ended up in the pool. No adults this year.
Believe me, that water is CHILLY!
This year, we added a croquet match at the end of the evening. Tommy was ahead when we called the game on account of darkness.
I can't wait till next year.
