What's that smell?

Sometime around Christmas, my oven acquired some icky stuff on the walls.  Now whenever I 

use it, I smoke out the whole house.  Tonight I thought I would try the nifty little invention on my 

oven called the self cleaner.  

Well, I was half an hour into the project, which involves simply turning on the self cleaning

option, and I had to open all doors and windows.

It is 9:30 p.m.  I'm a little chilly, the oven is still dirty, my house smells like a fireplace, and I 

don't know what to do.  

Please don't come visit me for another 48 hours so I can get this smell out of my house.

Not a Cooking Mama

Grace has this video game called Cooking Mama, which I am NOT these days.  Nothing I make is above average...some are well below average for that matter.  None of the recipes in my monthly magazines sounds appealing or easy enough for me to attempt.

I used to be able to at least follow a recipe and came up with some pretty good regulars.  Well, those are over-served at this point in the Halterhome.

If we could have cereal or pasta for dinner every night I'd be just fine.  Alas, that gets old and an all-carb diet isn't the best, so I've heard.  And breakfast for dinner is losing its novel appeal.

Help!  I have no ideas!  Send me a good recipe (or two) that is beginner to intermediate level cooking expertise.
